Sharp bins at patient bedside

Dear All
I was hoping you could help me with a query. Do other facilities allow patients in multi bedded areas to have access to a sharps bins at the patient bedside if they are performing their own blood sugar monitoring. If so how secure is the sharps bin (in a locked press, on bracket). Many thanks
