Thank you to all who responded to my query. So far all the feedback I have received is NOT to have wall-mounted sharps bins in every patient room but to use the small mobile sharps container & tray.

Hi Lenora,

following risk assessment up here in Donegal, we carry the sharps boxes in on the tray or use the portable ones, across all community services. Sharps boxes in rooms deemed too risky-

I am not familiar with these mattresses. Do they have an overall cover to keep them in place & allow to easy cleaning, and then you just change segments as required?

Would the AORN guidelines be of help to you?

We have purchased the UV light HLD system for the decontamination of TV/TR probes and for the central line probe. For our TOE we use the GUS system with the chemical OPA Cidex but for vaginal and rectal probes we use sheath and wipes. I am interested also to know what other hospitals are doing.
