We are refurbishing some of our houses and I was wondering if any one has come across toilets that are more robust than the standard ceramic domestic ones available, we have one stainless steel toilet in a particular house but HIQA have “suggested” we should change it for a one that is more domestic looking. But our service users keep…[Read more] -

Hi Everyone,
1. knowing that the ‘newer’ version of the Infection Control in the Built Environment no longer specifies actual space from bed centre to bed centre (like the previous version specifying 3.6m between bed centres), neither HIQA nor Irish national building standards either specify bed spacing- my query is what is the generally…[Read more]

Can you please give me your thoughts on non alcohol hand sanitzers, I have very little input on procurement and someone is pushing for these. The company is called Crystal Clear. Does anyone use non alcohol sanitzers?? Bearing in mind we are a community based organisation – not an acute hospital

Hi All,
we expect to have a new 50 bed unit in the near future and are currently looking at design. I noticed on the plans that there is a danni bin (PPE supplies) inside the patients room.According to the NHS “Infection Control in the Built environment” “gloves and aprons should be sited outside single rooms” so they won’t become contaminated.…[Read more] -
