      Hi Girls,

Edith Im sorry I didnt see this before.

I hope I will be able to attach this pdf version that I got years ago from HSE Health Promotion Unit (HPU), when they were distributing these posters for us.

The HPU stock number was HPUT00227. I will try with our local Health & Well being Dept, to see if they can point me in the right direction of who might have an original copy of this poster-

      best wishes, mags

      Hi Emer,

I have just filled in the Survey Monkey on behalf of CHO1, which includes martina Connolly for HSE Services Cavan- Monaghan area, Clodagh Keville for HSE Services Sligo- Leitrim- West Cavan area, and me for Donegal HSE Services.

We have 1,755 residential care beds across the 5 counties

We have 111 health centres/ primary care centres (2 on islands), and

we have 4,764 staff- all requiring manadatory IPC training.

WE cover ALL HSE serviecs across all teh divisions on a geographical basis,a s outlined above.

There maybe slightly more detail in the responses to the questions on the survey monkey; all questions were answered.

Thanks Emer for co-ordinating this piece of work, it is vital that we get this right in terms of progressing IPC nursing & associated IPC services along, for sure-

      best wishes, mags

      Hi Lenora,

Can i check, as discussed at our last IPC Ireland meeting and outside HPSC on your way into the last Guideline group meeting(!!!), has IPC Ireland written to national team in relation to this issue.

Im wondering too if Fiona has written to the national team from the perspective of the community group, also as agreed at the last Community Group meeting.

Just wondering what the status is on this issue. Thanks Lenora for any input you can give-

      Hi Caroline,

we have these separate audit tools up here, however NOT excel- based unfortunately. They are completely ‘word’ at the minute, but if you had someone willing and able to convert into excel for you- then you would be flying! Then, the back page instructs the user on how to calculate their score, and then make up a quality improvement plan. But no more than Trish & Noeleen, these tool sup here are based on the original national tools.

We are currently trialling some apps, and will be working with a company to make some of their apps more user focused for us, in terms of what we have found from experience.

If you think any of these might be of help to you, just email no problem at all-

      best wishes, mags

      Hi Lenora,

CWS BoCo is another one that I have heard mentioned that operates in Irish Healthcare.

I am currently on the OGP Linen/ laundry Procurement Evaluation Group for HSE acute and non- acute services. There is a Manager from The Mater Hospital on that procurement group, who would help I am sure & close to you Lenora.

When you are like us here in the regions, we aren’t all part of the national ‘players’ agenda, so would have companies more locally based that can facilitate our linen- laundry needs.
However, the idea of trying to standardise the process, cost and specification for the function will help improve things nationally, plus may have some of the ‘larger’ companies come further down/ up/ across the country from now on.

Sorry I cant be of more help Lenora-

      Hi Lenora,

following risk assessment up here in Donegal, we carry the sharps boxes in on the tray or use the portable ones, across all community services. Sharps boxes in rooms deemed too risky-

I work up in Donegal, so I am not sure if that is any good to you at all, but if you wanted to link in with me via phone at all Linda, that would be no problem at all. And we can always discuss on the phone my job remit, if you thought that might help???

      Hi Noeleen,

we give the advice up here that anything needed is brought in and out to the clinics by the patient, once given initially by the PHN/ Com RGN etc.
If the client needed a home visit, then the dressing materials would be left there in their home, as far as is reasonably possible. Therefore, if the client attends a clinic,w e try to have them in charge of their dressing materials too (as in the topical part of the dressing taht is).

However, I do know that some PHN clinics keep the topical stuff within the clinic; they label the dressing/ cream with the patient details on it, so its till remains patient specific, just held in the clinic by the nurses.

Its not that Im sitting on the fence Noeleen, even if it looks like I am (!!!), but i know there is a mixture of practices going on!!! But once you can be assured that it is being kept, clean and safe and is not communally used (labelled for the individual) then I think what ever best works for that clinic- would that seem reasonable??

‘Hope all is well with you Noeleen-

      Hi Fiona, Eithne & Alsion,

I would agree that we need to seek alternatives from Irish suppliers and after recent HIQA inspections, there has been increased queries in relation to ‘safe/ enclosed’ PPE dispensers- so as to prevent access by others.

This may cause many a predictament, but I think there should be more options and solutions out there for sure. Because we spend alot of time lloking for better and more appropriate alternatives.

I would be very grateful too from anyone who has been able to source other options.

      best wishes everyone, mags
